Vehicle inspections in Calgary
We're a government-licensed vehicle inspection facility in Calgary SE. That means we can do your out-of-province inspection to register a vehicle in Alberta, and the pre-purchase inspection that tells you what you're really buying.
And because we're a full repair shop — with factory diagnostics for European cars — anything that needs fixing to pass gets done right here, instead of sending you somewhere else.
Out-of-province inspection
Brought a vehicle in from another province or country? It has to pass an out-of-province inspection before Alberta will issue plates. We do it to standard, by a licensed journeyperson technician.
1. Get the form
Buy a Request for Vehicle Inspection Form from any Alberta registry agent. It doesn't expire, so you can get it ahead of time.
2. Bring it to us
Book your vehicle in with the form. A licensed journeyperson technician inspects it to the Alberta Automotive & Light Truck standard — usually around two hours.
3. Repairs, if needed
You get a signed Record of Inspection either way. If anything fails, you have 10 days to repair it — and we can do the work right here.
4. Register
Present your passed inspection certificate to a registry agent within 14 days to get your Alberta plates.
Pre-purchase inspection
Thinking of buying a used car? We'll check it over and give you an honest report on its real condition before you hand over your money — so there are no expensive surprises a week later.
- A thorough mechanical and structural look-over
- Factory fault-memory scan on European cars
- Brakes, tires, suspension and leaks assessed
- An honest verdict — buy, negotiate or walk away
- A written report you can act on
Especially worth it on a used European car — we read the stored faults the dash won't show you.

Very professional, timely, trustworthy work. I feel my older VW is in such good hands when I take it into Prolevel Performance. Great customer service, always kind and courteous.
20 years and many vehicles I went to Mercedes for service. Two years ago I learned of Prolevel. I'm never going back to the Mercedes service department again.
Best independent shop I know. I have brought my Honda and Acura vehicles there for years. Sergei really knows his vehicles and is honest about his evaluations and recommendations. I've used this place for major work that would have cost way more at the dealer.
Vehicle inspections in Calgary — FAQ
When do I need an out-of-province inspection in Alberta?
Any vehicle previously registered outside Alberta must pass an out-of-province inspection before Alberta licence plates are issued. It's a one-time requirement when you bring a vehicle into the province.
How long does an out-of-province inspection take?
On average about two hours, depending on the vehicle. We'll give you a realistic time when you book.
What happens if my vehicle fails the inspection?
You get a signed Record of Inspection listing what needs attention, and you have 10 days to repair it. If you come back within those 10 days, we only re-verify the items that needed work rather than redoing the whole inspection. Because we're a full repair shop, we can do the repairs here and get you straight to re-inspection.
How much does an inspection cost?
Inspection facilities set and post their own prices. Request a booking or give us a call at 403-271-1111 for our current inspection pricing — and note any repairs needed to pass are quoted separately, in writing, before we do them.
What is a pre-purchase inspection?
It's an optional, buyer-requested inspection before you commit to a used vehicle. We check the car over and give you an honest report on its condition and any issues, so you can buy with confidence or walk away — especially worth it on a used European car, where we can read the fault memory with the factory software.
Does Alberta require a yearly safety inspection?
No. Alberta has no routine periodic safety inspection for private passenger vehicles. Inspections are required when registering an out-of-province vehicle, for salvage vehicles, and for commercial vehicles — and a pre-purchase inspection is always optional but smart.
